Getting the Right People on the Bus! - Pass it on.....

Engage your board in fundraising from the beginning.  This sample board application starts the process of "putting the right people on the bus".  There are some important questions on this application.  It is proven successful as many potential board members decline to complete it or answer important questions honestly, letting you know you really don't want them on your bus! The document is in Word so you can edit and adapt for your needs.  If you want to share, send it back and I will update it on the site!

Best practices are ideas, techniques, methods, processes, activities, incentives or rewards that are more effective at delivering a particular outcome than any other technique, method, process, etc. The idea is that with proper processes and testing, a desired outcome can be delivered with fewer problems and unforeseen complications. Best practices can also be defined as the most efficient (least amount of effort) and effective (best results) way of accomplishing a task, based on repeatable procedures that have proven themselves over time for large numbers of people. Adapted from Wikipedia

Barbara likes to use Best Practices over theory when working with nonprofit clients.  Theory informs the work, best practice tested it and made it work in real life. This section offers Best Practice tools you can use with colleagues, staff and volunteers.
