Career Enhancement And Resource Management Awards
Successful development professionals have experience, field knowledge, mentor and lead by example. Talisman Associates, Inc believes continuing education and mentoring is vital to positive development. In 1998, Talisman established the CHARM Awards to:
- Recognize and support rising development professionals.
- Increase awareness of fundraising as a profession.
- Provide educational opportunities for people new to the field.
- Encourage, support and offer mentors among other development professionals.
CHARM Award recipients can receive:
- Scholarships to national and local fundraising educational conferences or
- Membership to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)

Eligibility
Individuals who are new to development are eligible to apply. CHARM applicants who demonstrate their desire and commitment to the field of fundraising are chosen annually by a panel of development professionals.
Special consideration will be given to organizations with no more than 3 full time development personnel and an organization budget of less than $1 million. Unpaid volunteers and consultants are not eligible.
How to apply?
- Complete the application.
- Write a one page, double spaced essay on why you are pursuing a career in development. Include one copy of your resume.
- Submit your application and essay by October 31, 2002.
A panel of experienced development professionals will review applications and essays.
Awards will be announced by December 6, 2002. Essays and application remain the property
of Talisman Associates, Inc. - committed to educating and inspiring donors and essays may be reproduced at sponsor's discretion.
